Christy founded Ambitions Abroad in 2004, after working with students and professionals from around the world for more than 15 years.
From teaching English conversation in South Korea, to recruiting and advising international students about studying in the US, to orienting immigrants to American life, Christy’s expertise in international education spans a wide range of settings and professional roles.
Christy has six years experience teaching ESL and intercultural communication in both online and traditional classroom settings. She also has extensive experience managing academic, cultural, and social programs for international students and scholars at such well-known institutions as UC-Berkeley, the University of Washington, the Monterey Institute of International Studies, and San Jose State University.
Christy lived and worked in South Korea for two years, spent one year as an exchange student in Australia, and has traveled extensively in Europe and Asia.
Drawing from her professional and personal experience, Christy intuitively understands the needs of non-native English speakers and enjoys supporting them in developing a clearer understanding of the English language, life the US, and the many nuances of cross-cultural communication.
Christy earned a Master’s degree in Intercultural Relations from Lesley University and a Bachelor’s degree in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Michigan.
